Spring Flowers

Achariya Fritz Kramer
Speaks on "Spring Flowers"
Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 11:00am

As we bask in the unfolding warmth, beauty and color of Spring, let us set our minds on one of the most sacred symbols loved by man; flowers. From the Golden Lotus of our Temple, to the Flower of Life pattern embraced by mathematicians and ancients alike, this Sunday we will meditate on the sublime and profound lessons offered as nature bursts forward all around us. May the seeds and fruit these flowers bear implant inspiration and wisdom along our divine path.

From the Gurus and Swamis: AUM

"All great revealers of truth, sons of God, avatars, messiahs and saviors, have realized and revealed the truth of the immortality of soul. Spring brings an unforgettable reminder of this glorious fulfillment in the perfection of God."
—Swami Premananda

"If you want to understand this life we must remember the fine work He is doing in the flowers, the flame of His mind that is burning in our thoughts, the thoughts that are pouring from our souls, and the worlds upon worlds that are spread out over the great vastness of the Cosmos."

—Swami Yogananda

"When the lotus opens, the bees come of their own accord to seek the honey; so let the lotus of your character be full-blown, and the results will follow."

—Swami Vivekananda

Noble Thoughts: ("Let Noble Thoughts come to us from all sides." —Rigveda)

"Who are you, reader, reading my poems an hundred
     years hence?
I cannot send you one single flower from this wealth of the
spring, one single streak of gold from yonder clouds.
Open your doors and look abroad.
From your blossoming garden gather fragrant memories
of the vanished flowers of an hundred years before.
In the joy of your heart may you feel the living joy that sang
one spring morning, sending it's glad voice across an
     hundred years."
—Rabindranath Tagore, "The Gardener"

"Work on with the intrepidity of the lion but at the same
time with the tenderness of a flower."
—Swami Vivekananda, "Pearls of Wisdom"

"Earth teach me quiet ~ as the grasses are still with new light.
Earth teach me suffering ~ as old stones suffer with memory.
Earth teach me humility ~ as blossoms are humble with beginning.
Earth teach me caring ~ as mothers nurture their young.
Earth teach me courage ~ as the tree that stands alone.
Earth teach me limitation ~ as the ant that crawls on the ground.
Earth teach me freedom ~ as the eagle that soars in the sky.
Earth teach me acceptance ~ as the leaves that die each fall.
Earth teach me renewal ~ as the seed that rises in the spring.
Earth teach me to forget myself ~ as melted snow forgets its life.
Earth teach me to remember kindness ~ as dry fields weep with rain."

—An Ute Prayer
