“Sacred Words”

All the words that compose our prayers, mantrams, and verses of scripture that we utter, recite, chant and sing, bring a vibration of divine sound and thought. It is these sacred words which nourish our spiritual life with the power of holy expression.

“Vibration expresses itself in sound, but of course not all vibratory sounds are audible to the human ear. The cosmic vibration of AUM is not heard by our sense faculties, but it can be perceived in our meditation at Ajna as our individual consciousness establishes its contact with God, the Cosmic Self.”

—Swami Kamalananda
The Mystic Cross

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John 1:1

”AUM is the symbol of the cosmic universe, the phenomenonal as well as the noumenal. The past, the present, and the future, the origin, existence, and unfoldment in perfection, are all explained by the word AUM. And that which is beyond category of time is also revealed by AUM. Verily, all is the manifestation of the Reality of AUM.”

Mandukya Upanishad
Translation by Swami Premananda

“The idea of life as a continuous prayer reveals the sublimity of soul through constant remembrance of God, the source and perfection of life. Prayers of praise and thankfulness, prayers of devotion and longing, prayers of hope and peace...all maintain a prayerful thought throughout every dimension of life. Prayer is an act of communion with the Divine. It is the constant thought of God.”
