Everyone is essentially divine. We are the divine Self. The ideal of human existence is the recognition of our spiritual Self. Religion is the realization of our divine nature, otherwise called Self-realization. When we realize our true Self, spirituality guides our daily life and conduct. Life guided by spiritual vision insures inner contentment and peace.
SUNDAY PHILOSOPHIC SERVICES
We welcome you to join us in the Golden Lotus Temple of the Self-Revelation Church of Absolute Monism. Our weekly non-sectarian philosophic services are held in the Church at 11:00am each Sunday (except during the months of July and August.) This devotional and philosophic service offers messages of Advaita Vedanta, or Absolute Monism. Children are welcome to join our Sunday School which meets in the Church of the Children at the same time. All are welcome.
This year our seven-week Kriya Yoga Meditation Series will take place on Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. Our usual Sunday worship service will take a slightly different format to offer time to unfold the purpose, ideal and technique of Kriya. This Kriya series is dedicated to the rishi, Patanjali. Each week will reflect on themes from his Yoga Sutras as they pertain to Kriya Yoga. All who aspire to the life, practice and ideal of yoga are welcome.
The Yoga Sutras are well-known for the description of ashtanga yoga, eight elements of practice culminating in samadhi. The eight elements, known as limbs, are yama (abstinences), niyama (observances), asana (seat or posture), pranayama (focus on breath), pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana (concentration of the mind), dhyana (meditation) and samadhi (realization of absolute oneness).
We will explore the profound mystical source of Yoga according to our sacred spiritual heritage and inspired by themes from the Yoga Sutras.
TEMPLE OFFERING MESSAGES
When awakened from that entombment, soul is resurrected from the grave of ignorance into the light of inherent wisdom.
Love is eternally within us. We feel its presence; we know it exists in us; we realize its power; yet we are unable to express it in words. Who has ever succeeded in giving the fullest expression of love in words? None. Love is transmitted from heart to heart, from soul to soul. Love is manifested only through heart and soul. In love we become silent. In the fullness of love, we are speechless. In love, our whole being vibrates in the rhythm of joy. Love needs no words to express itself.
FEATURED PUBLICATIONS
The spiritual teachings of life as shared deep within the forest sanctuaries of ancient India are of immense value to us even today. Although the cultural and spiritual referents of her writings emerge from the idyllic forest ashrams of India’s Vedic Age thousands of years ago, Srimati Kamala draws from her memories of life with her guru, Swami Premananda, from a profound spiritual tradition and from her own meditations and musings.
This volume presents the English translation of the three Upanishads which deal directly with the way, the ritual and the revelation of Kriya Yoga, the specific technique of subjective meditation by which man during his sojourn on earth is capable of attaining the realization of God.
"The great sage Patanjali presented for all seekers of light and truth a unique book on the philosophy and science of yoga. The book is generally known as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Sutras is the plural from of the singular noun sutra, a Sanskrit word meaning thread. The implication here is that, just as the pearls of a beautiful necklace are held together by a central thread, even so all the ideals, concepts, principles, techniques and methods of yoga are coordinated with and guided by the central truth of God and the realization of God. In this little volume I present my translation of the first chapter only, the chapter on Samadhi, realization. In the truest sense, the first chapter embodies the spiritual essence of this sacred scripture."
The Divine origin and meaning of Breath for human life according to Yoga philosophy and meditation coupled with the harmonization of the consciousness-bearing life force, Prana.
