”If Thine Eye Be Single”
Sunday Bulletin
We see the world around us with our two eyes. But we see the world within us with “the eye single.” Our two eyes see what external light reveals. During meditation at Ajna we draw our focus inward to that which our inner light reveals. Just as the ancient “rishis”—the seers—saw with the inner eye of illumination, so, too, do we “see” with “the eye single”— the spiritual eye.
“At the spiritual eye is revealed a beautiful circle of soothing light like the full moon in the blue sky. Within this peaceful light is attained the first vision of cosmic consciousness, the reality of God. Wisdom that dispels all ignorance, power that overcomes all limitations, devotion that transcends all negativeness, and spiritual self-cognition that removes all sensory identification are perceived in their true and divine potency. Within the effulgence of Spirit all concepts of duality are transcended, and finally soul becomes completely absorbed in the love of God.”

Light on Kriya Yoga: The Mystic Way, The Mystic Ritual, The Mystic Revelation
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Matthew 6: 22-23
Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount
“The world of Nature surrounds us with revelations of light—light as a single current of illumination linking all life to the innermost soul of the universe, light whose full radiance is realized in the soul of man. God is revealed as light, and we feel His meaning as light throughout cosmic life as we see light everywhere.
”All Kriyabans learn to meditate at the center, the sixth chakra, which is located at the pituitary body in the seat of the mind. Ajna means command, and indeed the center is the seat of the primordial power of the soul. Here the meditator receives the command from the light of his higher self.”
